Frequently Asked Questions
What the Indonesia trade records contain, how they are delivered, what they cost and how you may use them.
What is Indonesia import and export data?
It is a record of individual shipments entering and leaving Indonesia. Each row describes one consignment: the Indonesian company involved, its overseas trading partner, the product and HS code, the quantity, the value and the port. Put together, the rows show who trades what with whom.
Where do the records come from?
The data is collected from third party sources within Indonesia based on shipping details filled by importers and exporters. We clean and structure the records; we do not create or alter the underlying shipment details.
Which products and HS codes are covered?
All HS chapters, from live animals to machinery. You can request data at 2, 4, 6 and 8 digit HS code level, or simply describe the product in words and we will work out the codes with you.
How many partner countries appear in the data?
Shipments to and from 100+ countries. China, Singapore, Japan, the United States, India and Malaysia feature heavily, but smaller partners are included as they appear in the records.
How often is the data updated?
Monthly. When you request a sample we confirm the latest month available for your product, so you know what you are getting before you buy.
Is historical data available?
Yes, for most chapters. Tell us the period you need and we check availability for your exact products rather than promising blanket coverage.
What fields does a record contain?
Date, HS code, product description, Indonesian company, overseas trading partner, partner country, Indonesian port, mode of transport, quantity, unit, unit and total value, and delivery terms. Some fields are blank when the original filing left them blank.
What format will I receive?
Excel (.xlsx) or CSV, emailed to you. There is no portal to learn and no per-user licence — you can open the file in any spreadsheet or load it into your own BI tool.
Can I get data for one product or one company only?
Yes, that is the most common request. We filter the extract to your HS codes, product keywords, companies, ports or date range, and you pay only for that cut.
Can I receive the data every month?
Yes. We save your filter and send the new month's records as soon as they are ready, in the same layout every time so your reports keep working.
Can I see a sample before buying?
Yes, and we encourage it. The free sample is drawn from the real data for your requirement — same columns, fewer rows — so you can judge its usefulness before paying.
How is the price worked out?
By the scope of the request: number of HS codes or products, import, export or both, and the period covered. We quote a fixed figure with the sample, before any commitment.
How quickly is data delivered?
Samples usually go out within one working day. A full extract follows once the order is confirmed; large multi-year requests may take a little longer, and we tell you the timeline upfront.
Are payments refundable?
Data files cannot be returned once delivered, so sales are final. That is why the sample comes first. If a delivery does not match the scope we agreed in writing, we correct it.
Who can use the data inside my company?
Anyone in your organisation. The licence covers internal business use with no seat limit.
Can I resell or publish the data?
Not without our written permission. Reselling, republishing or offering the data as part of another product needs a separate agreement.
Do you trade any of the goods shown?
No. Data Vault Insights is a data provider only. We do not buy, sell or broker goods and take no commission on deals made using our data; you contact the companies directly.
How reliable is the data?
Records come from third-party sources and may contain errors, delays or omissions. We remove duplicates and broken rows, but you should verify anything critical — a supplier's credentials, for example — independently.
Question not listed?
Send it with your product or HS code and we will answer it together with a free sample.
